rogue wave

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 (8:57pm) - Atlantic Ocean

holy high seas, we are in some crazy weather! actually, i don't think you can technically call this weather. this is just where the atlantic ocean currents are meeting up with the indian ocean currents... which means 15-20 foot waves. that's fun if you're a surfer or something... not great when you're on a ship trying to go to class. brew & i live on deck 3... which isn't supposed to be a problem when it comes to waves/seas. our window is soaking wet cus we keep getting hit by waves. it sounds like we are getting hit by a train every two seconds. plus, brew & i are in the front of the ship where the rocking is the worst. not great. though i haven't thrown up yet, this is the worst i've felt. but i'm too prideful to take seasickness medications. and kind of an issue that this is how the seas are going to be until we get to mauritius.

so, yesterday we had the day off school to take our first global studies test. the test was a joke. what a waste of time. but i wasn't feeling great so i spent most of the day sleeping. i meant to get a lot of homework done, but i just needed a day to sleep and watch shrek five million times. (you people with cable, don't take it for granted!). but after dinner, will forced brew & i to watch archer since we'd never seen it before. now we're both obsessed. greatness.

two days until cape town. we're watching our preport meeting on the tv from bed. divasss. but they just got done going over food and i'm crying. seriously SO sick of the food on the ship. i just discovered tobasco sauce. i'm not a huge fan of it at home, but now i put it on ANYTHING that i'm eating so maybe it'll taste like something. brew & i spent the entire dinner today crying about all the food we would die for. here's a list: any burrito from anywhere, pesto pizza (slp), slp cookies, breakfast sandwich from brunch, cappuccino muffin from aromas, bacon turkey bravo from paloma, socal sandwich from urbane, rose's donuts... just basically any and all american food! sooo excited to eat something normal in cape town! who needs souvenirs when you can EAT!?!

now we're off to watch the movie nobelity up in the union and i need to finish a paper about ghana for one of my classes. we move the clocks ahead another hour tonight... so that makes it 9 hours ahead of SD. this whole long distance thing is not very fun. at all. i'm awake all day waiting for all you people to wake up and email me haha. life's rough, i know.

from, a hungry, mildly-seasick voyager
